Razor Bumps

  • Razor bumps are inflammation of skin around the hair
  • It is also old as pseudofolliculitis
  • It can occurs post shaving, waxing, threading and plucking of hair

The symptoms can be

  • Pain
  • Small red bumps
  • Pus filled lumps, pustules
  • Itching, redness
  • Pigmentation
  • It usually effects face, axilla, pubic area

Measures to follow in order avoid razor bumps:-

  1. Hydrate your skin before shaving
  2. Use sharp razor
  3. Don’t shave in the directions opposite to that of hair
  4. Moisturize the skin after shave
  5. If you have razor bumps, then avoid shaving for 3-4 weeks
  6. Avoid pulling skin while shaving

Treatment:-

  • Antibiotics are used to treat the infection.
  • Further we can prevent it by following the correct shaving techniques.
  • Use alternative way of removing hair like chemical depilation and advanced lasers.
