Few skin injuries heal by overgrowth of tissue. This overgrowth of tissue can lead to Keloid formation. Keloids can form after any trauma to skin like burns, earlobe piercing, acne lesions, secondary infections. Some people are generally prone to develop Keloids. Imbalance in collagen production & degradation is also responsible for Keloid formation.
